Aisha, the oldest one of the two siblings, presents herself as unpleasant and yet so innocent individual. I feel like she takes advantage of her younger sister, Nadira. Her parents see her as the "golden child", whom always gets good grades, allowing her father to brag to his friends about her "being better than the boys". In the quote that was mentioned above, she kicks her sister telling her to "shut up", then suddenly changes her attitude towards her father, speaking softly saying "Whatever you say, Abba." Her voice changes from hissing to speaking softly. I feel like Aisha is able to make Nadira feel bad about herself, which lowers Nadira's self esteem.

A Quote
Quote from book: "Aisha kicks me. "Shut up," she hisses, then speaks softly to my father's back. "Whatever you say, Abba." pg. 3
